John Shipley second in $10k PLO Championship

Monday, 27 June 2011

Out of the 361 starters in the $10k PLO Championship just four are still in contention for the $814,436 first prize and we're delighted to report that one of them is from these shores.

Solihull's John Shipley currently sits second in the chip counts on 2,705,000, quite a way behind chip leader Ben Lamb on 4,335,000 but still a very workable stack with which to mount a bracelet challenge. Joining Shipley and Lamb are Bluff Europe columnist Sam 'Larsluzak' Kelopuro on 2,155,000 with Christopher King returning as the short stack with 1,645,000.

As expected, plenty of big names made the money including Felipe Ramos, Mike McDonald, Alex Kravchenko and Matt Glantz. The British presence was also strong with Surinder Sunar cashing and John Kabbaj making the final table for $153,517.

All four remaining players are guaranteed a payday of at least $273,575 but all will have eyes on the $800k score as well as the kudos of the bracelet.

Join us tomorrow to see if the Silhillian is celebrating.
