One of the pros’ favourite events; the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold ‘em World Championship kicked off last night with 268 players putting up a five-figure stack to compete in one of the seven championship events.

After all was said and done just 144 players remained. Those who busted early included Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Vanessa Rousso, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and Greg Raymer but we are joined for Day 2 tomorrow by a lot of talent.

Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu all still have chips in this event while Stuart Rutter and John Duthie are building stacks to keep British hopes alive. Joe Hachem, Noah Boeken and chip leader Tom Marchese… the list goes on.

Join us tomorrow when they will have played down to the money and then on to the final table, where first prize has been set as $617,214.

1.Tom Marchese 283,000
2.Martin Kabrhel 203,000
3.Sirous Jamshidi 185,000
4.Dan Smith 174,000
5.Dani Stern 160,000
