Miguel Proulx wins Event #38. $2,500 PLO

Friday, 18 June 2010

After 596 entries in an ever-more popular Pot-Limit Omaha event were outdrawn and rivered down to a final table of nine, featuring none other than EastEnders star turned poker pro Michael “Beppe” Greco.

In the end Greco couldn’t become the first Walford resident to claim a World Series of Poker bracelet, busting in third place at the hands of eventual winner Proulx but still taking home a tidy payday of $129,961. Fine work after starting the day as one of the short stacks.

That left Proulx battling it out with LJ Klein for the gold bracelet. Though Proulx began the heads-up competition with a chip deficit he battled back and held a slim lead 45 minutes after the start of the match when the final hand occurred.

Proulx called a button raise and check-called an all-spade T4J flop. The 9d turn saw another check call but this time to Proulx’s 200,000 bet. The money went in on the Kh river but Klein’s two pair was rapidly mucked when Proulx turned over As-Qd-Qh-2s for the tournament-winning nut flush.
The full final table payouts were as follows:

1 Miguel Proulx $315,311
2 L.J. Klein $195,147
3 Michael Greco $129,691
4 Stephane Tayar $96,243
5 Joerg Engels $72,227
6 Karl Gal $54,736
7 Trevor Pope $41,850
8 Tommy Le $32,254
9 Patrick Hanoteau $25,044
