Matt Matros seeks second bracelet in $2,000 Limit Hold ‘em

Matt Matros seeks second bracelet in $2,000 Limit Hold ‘em

Thursday, 10 June 2010

After hours of min-raising, Event #18 saw Day 1 draw to a close with 144 of the 476 players who plonked $2,000 on the felt remain. Top of the chip counts is Josh Honegger on 87,000 but the name on everyone’s lips is Matt Matros, who recently took down the $1,500 Limit Hold ‘em event for $189,870.

Matros finished the day third in chips after bagging up a stack of 53,700 to take him to the top of the leaderboard. Maria Ho, Jennifer Tilly, Rob Hollink, Shannon Shorr, and Lex Veldhuis all made it through to Day 2 but the same cannot be said of Tom Dwan, Daniel Negreanu or Phil Ivey. Negreanu couldn’t get any momentum going and dwindled rapidly, durrrr forgot you can’t make people fold in Limit Hold ‘em and kept getting called down by ace high and as for Ivey? His stack blinded off, untouched as its owner competed in the 2-7 Lowball championship and $5,000 NL events.

Join us tomorrow to find out who made the final table of this event
and whether Matros successfully made it bracelet number two.

The top five chip counts are as follows:
1 Josh Honegger 87,000
2 Daniel Makowsky 74,600
3 Matt Matros 53,700
4 Matt Glantz 50,700
5 Matt Grapenthien 49,000
