Marcel Vonk wins Event #54, $1,000 NL

Tuesday, 6 July 2010

Marcel Vonk has won $570,960 and his first WSOP bracelet after triumphing over a field of 3,844 players who put up $1,000 to boost up the prize pool of the last of six $1,000 buy-in NL events at the WSOP.

When Vonk’s Ah-3h held up all-in before the flop against runner-up David Peter’s Kc-8c he not only secured the tournament but became the first Netherlands resident to win a WSOP bracelet in a Hold ‘em event. So yeah, there’s that.

Both Vonk and Peter’s swapped the top of the chip counts between each other throughout the final table after arriving first and second in chips. It was almost inevitable that these two would compete heads-up and after a well-fought battle it was all over.

Paul Kerr led the British challenge finishing in third place for $255,076.

The full final table payouts were as follows:

1. Marcel Vonk $570,960
2. David Peters $350,803
3. Paul Kerr $255,076
4. Nathan Jessen $186,818
5. Henrik Tollefsen $138,107
6. Matthew Lupton $103,061
7. Mehul Chaudhari $77,633
8. Espen Moen $59,020
9. Dustin Dorrance-Bowman $45,286
