Liv Boeree in WSOP Tournament of Champions play off

Wednesday, 9 June 2010

The WSOP has announced details of how it will award the final seat for its Tournament of Champions event. A single table, winner takes all contest will be held tomorrow with the victor earning a shot at the $1m event.

The field will be made up of players who weren't eligible for the WSOP ballot because they hadn't won a WSOP bracelet before this year. The full line up is Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Andy Bloch, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Gus Hansen, Don Cheadle, Sorel Mizzi, Michael Mizrachi, Liv Boeree and Paul Wasicka.

The winner will join the twenty bracelet winners who gained the most votes in a public ballot at WSOP.com. Previous Tournament of Champions winners Mike Matusow, Annie Duke and Mike Sexton plus defending WSOP Main Event winner Joe Cada and WSOPE champion Barry Shulman also qualify automatically for the event, as will a single online qualifier.

“The WSOP Academy will utilize the sponsor seat at the TOC to highlight the talents of players who are champions in their own right but did not have an opportunity to be voted into the TOC,” said Jeff Goldenberg, CEO of the WSOP Academy. “We have created a unique opportunity for our customers to watch and learn from these players as they battle for a highly coveted prize. We expect to see some great poker!”

There's still time to register a vote for your favourite WSOP bracelet winner by visiting http://wsop.com/toc/
