Justin “BoostedJ” Smith leads $2,500 PLHE/PLO Event #33

Friday, 18 June 2010

After eight levels of play, the 482 entrants in the $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold ‘em/Omaha mix were narrowed down to 126 with online player Justin “BoostedJ” Smith leading the chip counts into the six figures on 130,000.

Justin Smith and Phil Ivey both played in this and the $5,000 6-max NL event. It certainly worked well for Smith who survived Day 1 in the latter and managed to finish this event as the only one of 126 players with more than 100,000. Thirty per cent more, in fact.

Shaun Deeb, Victor Ramdin, Ashton Griffin, Jesper Hougaard, Joe Serock, Andy Black, Liv Boeree and Jeff Lisandro are all still alive in the tournament as well. Daniel Negreanu seemed to be gaining momentum like the X Men’s Juggernaut but couldn’t pull through and hit the rail to play the $1,500 HORSE.

The top five chip counts are as follows:

1 Justin Smith 130,000
2 Tyler Patterson 95,300
3 David Paredes 77,000
4 Victor Ramdin 54,750
5 Tommy Hang 53,000
