Just 12 remain in Event #51, $3,000 Triple Chance NLHE

Thursday, 1 July 2010

The $3,000 Triple Chance NL event saw fewer than a thousand entrants but the prize pool was bolstered by busted players returning for another crack... then repeating. With just 12 players left out of 965, the remaining contenders are guaranteed at least $33,026 but the first prize is well over half a million and all eyes are on the bracelet.

While Jon Eaton leads with 1,678,000 the murmur on the rail is centred around Tommy Vedes – this is his fourth cash of the 2010 WSOP and not two months ago he emerged victorious in the EPT Monte Carlo €5,000 6-max event for €170,000. This bracelet wouldn’t be his biggest win – in October last year he won the $15,000 WPT Festa al Lago for $1.2m so this bracelet would secure him the EPT/WPT/WSOP Triple Crown that only Roland de Wolfe and Gavin Griffin have thus far earned.

Play resumes late tonight UK time, with the nine finalists earning at least $41,000 and five players hitting six figures in prize money towards the $559,371 first prize. The top five chip counts are as follows:

1. Jon Eaton 1,678,000
2. Frank Rusnak 1,041,000
3. Tommy Vedes 984,000
4. Will Failla 960,000
5. Ryan Welch 932,000
