Juanda bubbles Event #52, $25k 6-max NL with 18 left

Friday, 2 July 2010

The buzz surrounding the $25,000 6-max No-Limit Hold ‘em event hasn’t died down as Day 2 concludes and 18 players remain with each guaranteed at least $58,699. Bryn Kenney is the chip leader looking towards the $1,315,518 first prize but he has a struggle to get there.

Hot on his heels is young UK pro Sam Trickett in third place, looking to more than double his $1.1m in live tournament earnings. Glance further down in the chip counts and threats don’t abate as Isaac Haxton, Daniel Negreanu, Carlos Mortenson, Justin Bonomo and Frank Kassela all loom from behind varying stacks.

The latter has just taken the lead in the 2010 WSOP Player of the Year Rankings – previously tied with Juanda, Kassela moved 5pts ahead of the Full Tilt Pro when Juanda bubbled in 19th place. The gap between them will increase as Kassela moves up the prize pool, hoping to add to the two bracelets and $737,000 he has already locked up this summer. Each player at the final table will be guaranteed just under $200,000.

The top five chip counts are as follows:
1. Bryn Kenney 2,425,000
2. Brian Hodhod 1,484,000
3. Sam Trickett 1,123,000
4. Abe Mosseri 1,035,000
5. Frank Kassela 978,000
