23 players returned for the final day of the $10k H.O.R.S.E Championship at the Rio last night and after a marathon session only Ian Gordon was left standing.
The action finally came to a close as the clock neared 6am after a epic day of mixed game poker with the American seeing off Englishman Richard Ashby to seal the title. Heads up play was just the opposite of the rest of the day's action though, coming to a conclusion in just one hand of hold'em.Ashby raised from the button, Gordon three-bet, Ashby re-raised again and the American elected to call. Ashby raised the 6h10h8d flop after an initial check from Gordon. The Montana man raised and Ashby made the call. Gordon bet the 10c on turn with Ashby re-raising him all in. Gordon swiftly made the call revealing pocket nines leaving Chufty drawing thin with AdJd. A king on the river gave Gordon the title leaving Ashby to settle for second place. A payout of $378k should provide some minor consolation.Overnight chip leader Brian Townsend missed out on the final table, eventually busting in 10th place. Other big names to make the money included Scotty Nguyen, Robert Mizrachi and Todd Brunson. The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1 Ian Gordon $611,666 2 Richard Ashby $378,027 3 Eugene Katchalov $248,831 4 Marco Johnson $181,503 5 Matt Glantz $135,040 6 Carlos Mortensen $102,237 7 Nick Schulman $78,654 8 Marco Traniello $61,414 9 Scott Fischman $48,638
