Final $1,000 NL Event, #54, Day 1a completed – Boeree ninth

The last cheapskate event of the 2010 WSOP kicked off yesterday with a staggering 2,340 players turning out to compete for Day 1a, so this time tomorrow it could be the second-largest tournament of this WSOP.

Despite the huge field only 350 survived the first day as players including Tom Dwan, Chris Ferguson and Dennis Phillips hit the rail, dropping like flies throughout ten levels of play. However, of the 350 survivors a number are good shouts for deep runs including Kara Scott and EPT San Remo champion Liv Boeree, who is sitting pretty (literally) on 25,500 in ninth place of the 350.


Tomorrow Day 1b will play down for ten levels before the two opening flight survivor fields meet on Sunday to play out Day 2.


The top five chip counts are as follows:
1. Eelke Arjaans 75,550
2. Alan Keating 62,000
3. Ron Schutsky 62,000
4. Sean Prendiville 59,000
5. Tommaso Breotti 54,000
