Event#5 – Praz Bansi win $1,500 No Limit Hold'em bracelet

Thursday, 3 June 2010

Praz Bansi has been crowned champion in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event. The Londoner battled his way through a field of 2,092 runners to claim his second piece of WSOP jewellery.

The Hit Squadee had built himself a decent chip lead by the time the 23 returning players had become a final table of nine. Bansi didn't ease up the pressure throughout, eventually setting up a heads up clash with Vincent Jacques. The stacks were fairly even going into two-handed play but Bansi ground his way up to a decent chip lead and looked to have sealed the deal after calling the Canadian's K8 push with K10. A board of A-4-Q-10 left Jacques desperately hoping for a Jack for a split and sure enough a miracle Jack appeared on the river.

The reprieve was brief though. After an initial raise from Bansi, Jacques re-raised all in with A8. The Briton made the call with AJ putting him in excellent shape, especially after a QQJ flop. An 8 on the turn raised some ugly possibilities but a harmless 2 on the river gave Bansi the win, his second WSOP bracelet and the small matter of $515,501. Well played sir!

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1.Praz Bansi - $515,501
2.Vincent Jacques - $320,913
3.Calvin Kordus - $223,069
4.David Tuthill- $160,654
5.Tomer Berda - $117,416
6.Donald Offord - $86,858
7.Hugh Bell - $65,097
8.David “Doc” Sands - $49,409
9.Kyle Knecht - $37,943

Jack Powell was the only other Brit to make the money, pocketing $15,222 for his 25th place finish.
