Event#5 $1,500 NLHE - Moorman and Bansi amongst the chip leaders

Tuesday, 1 June 2010

The British contingent have got off to a relatively slow start at this year's World Series but that could be about to change with two of Blighty's finest near the head of the field in Event #5.

A total of the 2,099 players bought in for the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event yesterday with only 243 players making through to Day 2. Among the survivors are Brunson Ten member and online tournament specialist Chris Moorman and the Hit Squad's Praz Bansi who boasted the third and sixth largest chip counts at the close of play.

The man to catch is Stephen Foutty though who surged into the lead after his pocket queens held up against AK just before the end of play. Other big names left in the hunt are Shaun Deeb, Antonio Esfandiari, Kathy Liebert, Andrew Lichtenberger and Jason Somerville.

Action resumes at 10.30pm tomorrow UK time with the bubble set to burst early into proceedings. 216 of the 243 remaining players will make the money with all eyes on the first prize of $515,501.

The leading chip counts are as follows:

1 Stephen Foutty 207,000
2 Jesse Fulmer 149,000
3 Chris Moorman 120,000
4 Matthew Schwarmann 120,000
5 Peter Leung 117,000
6 Pramesh Bansi 110,000
7 Dwyte Pilgrim 100,000
8 Jason Somerville 99,500
9 David Tuthill 87,000
10 Michael Deloach 86,000
