Event#30 – Channing challenging in $1.5k NLHE

Thursday, 17 June 2010

A total of 2,934 players took to the felt for the opening day of the latest $1.5k NLHE event with just 288 still standing by the close of play. By bagging up time Neil Channing worked his way up to fifth on the leader board.

Leading the way is Germany's Markus Lehmann followed by Joel Bollock (yes, that's what WSOP organisers are calling him. We think his real name is Bullock), and former Main Event champion Carlos Mortensen.

Other big names still in contention for the $581,851 first prize are Nam Le, Matt Stout and Dan Kelly. High profile casualties on day 1 included Phil Hellmuth, Andrew Black, Gavin Griffin and John Juanda.

The bubble should burst early tomorrow with the field set to be whittled down to a final table. Join us tomorrow to see whether Channing has dropped a Bollock (or should that be Bullock) or is well on the way to some WSOP jewellery.
