Event #26; $2,500 No Limit Hold ‘em drawing to final table

Wednesday, 16 June 2010

Daniel Negreanu has cashed but failed to make it to the final table in the $2,500 6-max NL event; busting in 15th place to become the last elimination of the day with just over two full tables left in the game.

Negreanu moved in after 3-betting his last 189,000 with QJo. He was called by pre-flop raiser Steve Cowley who held 88 and while the Q87 flop improved both hands it left Negreanu drawing almost dead. A second seven on the turn gave him hope but he flatlined on the 5h river, leaving in 15th with a $23,357 payday.

Cowley is now the chip leader and will be as the last 14 play down to a winner tomorrow – he bagged over 1.2m chips; over ten big blinds ahead of second-place Alexander Ivarsson. Two notables left in the field after Negreanu’s exit are Justin “BoostedJ” Smith and Erik Cajelais.

The top five chip counts are as follows:
1. Steve Cowley 1,279,000
2. Alexander Ivarsson 1,050,000
3. Martins Adeniya 823,000
4. Jeffrey Papola 797,000
5. William Haydon 776,000
