Event #25 $10,000 World Championship Omaha 8 underway

Monday, 14 June 2010

The fifth $10,000+ event of the 2010 World Series of Poker has begun with 212 entrants putting up a stack of high society to compete in Event #25. As we write there are just 27 players left which bursts the money bubble.

A first prize of $488,237 awaits the man who can navigate his way through a game of scoops, quarters and low hands in order to take down the whole shebang. Currently there are several contenders to do just that – Brit and bracelet-winner this year already James Dempsey is in fourth place on 430,000 while Omaha expert and gambler extraordinaire Sam Farha is on a middling stack with over a quarter of a million chips before him.

Mike Sexton, John D’Agostino, Eugene Katchalov and Steve Zolotow are all alive still as well playing down to a final table. Each player at the nine-handed final will be guaranteed $44,619.

The top five chip counts are as follows:

1. Sergey Altbregin 648,000
2. Michael Chow 498,000
3. Steve Wong 465,000
4. James Dempsey 430,000
5. John Cernuto 375,000
