Event#2 - Michael Mizrachi wins $50k bracelet

Finally, the super-deep-stacked-and-really-slow-structured $50,000 Players’ Championship has come to an end. Out of a field of 116 it was left to Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi and former chess prodigy Vladimir Schmelev to battle it out for the Chip Reese Trophy and the small matter of $1.559m.

As this article began, Schmelev held a near 3-1 chip lead but since they’re playing a final table of No-Limit Hold ‘em that soon changed. All in with Ac-7c against a dominating A-J, Mizrachi rivered a club flush to double up and take the chip stacks to even.

The Grinder once again came from behind the seal the title pushing all in holding Q5. An extremely short stacked Schmelev made the call holding Q8. Needless to say a 5 popped up on the turn to give Mizrachi the title and hopefully an end to his battles with the American taxman.

The final table payouts were as follows:

1. Michael Mizrachi - $1,559,046
2. Vladimir Schmelev - $963,375
3. David Oppenheim - $603,348
4. John Juanda - $436,865
5. Robert Mizrachi - $341,429 6
6. David Baker – $272,275
7. Daniel Alaei - $221,105
8. Mikael Thuritz - $182,463
