Another two places in the $1m WSOP Tournament of Champions event have been confirmed.
French tournament legend Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier yesterday won a single table play off featuring Tom Dwan, Andy Bloch, Gus Hansen, Don Cheadle, Sorel Mizzi, Michael Mizrachi, Paul Wasicka and our very own Liv Boeree to claim his place in the 27-runner field.A delighted ElkY said, “I want to thank the WSOP Academy for giving me the chance to win my way into the TOC,” said Grospellier. “I feel like I am a deserving champion based on my record around the world, and I look forward to getting my WSOP bracelet soon.” Also in with a shot of claiming a share of the $1m prize pool is Englishman Andrew Barton. The Dudley Port native won an online qualifier to take his chances against the big boys. The delivery driver said, “Regardless of the outcome I’m going to enjoy every moment of my time out there. I feel like a winner already. This is such a great opportunity for me, once in a lifetime. June 27th is a new game, so I will treat it like I do any other game I play.” Grospellier and Barton will join a field that includes previous Tournament of Champions winners Mike Matusow, Annie Duke and Mike Sexton as well as defending WSOP and WSOPE Main Event winners Joe Cada and Barry Shulman. The line up will be completed by the top twenty vote getters in a poll at WSOP.com.
