Day 1 of $2,500 PLO Event #28 leaves just 105 survivors

Wednesday, 16 June 2010

A strong field of nearly 600 players put up $2,500 to compete in Event #28, a PLO tournament that will now be paying over $300,000 to first place while guaranteeing a final table spot $25,044.

Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Phil Ivey, Jason Mercier, Robert Williamson III, David "Devilfish" Ulliott, Greg Raymer and last year’s winner JC Tran all hit the rail before the money bubble burst. Despite this there are several people in contention for a final table spot and WSOP bracelet.

Bertrand Grospellier, TJ Cloutier, Joe Hachem and 2010 PLO bracelet-winner Tex Barch are all still alive in the field with Cloutier coming in the chip counts at 7th. Recent winner and British pro Richard Ashby is going for his second slice of 2010 WSOP glory, holding fast in fifth place in the chip counts.

The top five chip counts are as follows:
1. L.J. Klein 187,000
2. Eric Rabl 132,000
3. Jeff Schnettler 112,000
4. Justin Gardenhire 110,000
5. Richard Ashby 105,000
