Boyd earns his second WSOP bracelet for a victory in Event #23 for $234,065

Boyd slogged his way through three days of minraising to reach the final table and played down to the heads-up stages against Brian Meindings. Despite holding a two-to-one chip lead, Meindings could not overcome Boyd who swiftly took the lead before grinding Meindings down to just one big bet.

This 100,000 chip went in holding Ac-8s which found itself a slight favourite against Boyd’s Jh-Td. However, the poker Gods smiled on Boyd and granted him the nut straight by the turn, leaving Meindings drawing dead and resigning himself to a $144,650 payday.

Boyd was the centre of some controversy earlier in the 2000s when his network, PokerSpot, went under with an alleged $400,000 of player funds which have not been repaid.

The full final table payouts were as follows:
1. Dutch Boyd $234,065
2. Brian Meinders $144,650
3. Albert Minnullin $93,892
4. Art Parmann $62,769
5. Domenico Denotaristefani $43,117
6. Al Barbieri $30,399
