95 remain after Day 1 of $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Event #20

Friday, 11 June 2010

Pot-Limit Omaha is regarded as being high-variance and action-fuelled even in a deep-stacked cash game, so it’s unsurprising that almost 90% of the field was lost on the first day of the $1,500 event.

With just 95 players remaining and only 14 more to be eliminated before the money bubble bursts, Full Tilt Pro Jonathan Little is leading the field on 129,600 ahead of such poker bigwigs as Nenad Medic (fifth place), James Akenhead (sixteenth place) and defending champion Jason Mercier (twenty-seventh place).

The first prize for the event is set at over a quarter of a million dollars with each of the nine players who make it to the final table guaranteed a payout of at least $19,259 – not bad for a $1,500 investment.

The top five chip counts are as follows:
1. Jonathan Little 129,600
2. Christian Harder 116,000
3. Tex Barch 115,400
4. Matt Zoorob 106,000
5. Nenad Medic 104,400

Play resumes tomorrow night so join us over the weekend to find out who took this event down and whether James Akenhead can catch a rush to bring Britain another WSOP bracelet.
