WSOP – new logo rules for November Nine hurt Full Tilt

A press conference for the World Series of Poker Main Event final table due to begin in less than two weeks has cleared up some issues but will leave Full Tilt Poker with some head-scratching to do. The world’s second largest poker site has sponsored seven of the November Nine but this is a no-go according to WSOP bigwig Ty Stewart.

WSOP rules state that a site can only sponsor a certain number of players at the final table, in this case, just three.

“These guys have had ample time to find a replacement company to represent them, we know they’re in high demand, or simply to figure out who is going to go patchless. We hate to make this the focus, we’re glad that nearly everybody that participates at this final table has the opportunity to have an increased sponsorship agreement,” said Stewart, who made it clear that only three players are allowed to bear the same logo.

“We know tournament poker is a tough racket, and encourage that, but our rules are clear. We’ve spoken with all the players and we don’t expect any problems or funny business or any new logos or creative affiliate site.”

This means that Full Tilt Poker will have to remove patches from four players – and no, they can’t simply re-use the patches for a new player when someone is eliminated. Michael Mizrachi is an obvious keeper so expect to see the next two biggest chip stacks bearing Full Tilt gear come November.
