First Bracelet

J.C. Tran is just a very, very good poker player. Having already won one WPT title, made five WPT final tables and taken down a PokerStars WCOOP Main Event, the only thing that was missing from his poker CV was his first bracelet.

J.C. Tran is just a very, very good poker player. Having already won one WPT title, made five WPT final tables and taken down a PokerStars WCOOP Main Event, the only thing that was missing from his poker CV was his first bracelet. Scratch that one off the list, J.C.
Coming down to heads-up play, Tran was pursuing Rasmus Nielsen and his stack of 5.9 million. Tran’s 2.3 million was a fair way behind, but within two hours of play the professional player from California had wrestled control from the Dane.
The last hand came in a raised pot, with Tran opening the betting and Nielsen calling from the big blind. The flop came an uncoordinated 8h-Qs-2h, with Nielsen check-calling the flop. The turn was a blank 4d, and this time Tran’s bet was met by a check-raise all in from the Dane. Tran called, showing Kc-Qc, leaving Nielsen’s Qd-Jh drawing to the three knaves. None arrived on the river, leaving Tran banking $631,170 for his first-place finish and netting his first piece of World Series silverware.
