It’s going to save poker fans a few pounds in taxi fares, this one. The organisers of this year’s World Series of Poker Europe have announced that all of the tournaments will be held in The Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square. The venue, which was already named as one of the original sites for hosting the tournament, was used for the 2007 event, and showcased Annette’ famous victory at the final table.

As well as announcing the reduction in the number of venues, the WSOPE has also released a preliminary list of players expected to take part in the festival. The list includes Chris Ferguson, Erick Lindgren, Jennifer Harman, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, and at least three members of the ‘November Nine’ Ivan Demidov, Peter Eastgate and David 'Chino' Rheem.

The 2008 WSOPE schedule remains unaltered, and is as follows:

19th September 2008: Event 1, £1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Day 1A (three-day event / two opening days)

22nd September 2008: Event #2, £2,500 H.O.R.S.E. (three-day event)

24th September 2008: Event #3, £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha (three-day event)

27th September 2008: Event #4, £10,000 World Championship No-Limit Hold'em (five-day event / two opening days).
