WSOP APAC Opening Day

WSOP APAC Opening Day

Friday, 5 April 2013

Much anticipation surrounded yesterday’s opening event of the inaugural WSOP APAC and after months of waiting it seems it didn’t disappoint.

After the registration desk closed for the day a total of 329 players had managed to ante up the necessary AUD$1,100 to play in the Accumulator event.
The first of three starting days some a sea of famous faces take to the felt with the hope of building a healthy stack which they could carry through to the other two Day 1s if they wished.

The event’s brisk structure ensured that at the close of play on 47 players remained and when the final chip totals were in it was Dan Kelly leading the way with 66,250 chips, just ahead of Alex Givotovsky (65,600).

The tournament’s set-up means that Kelly can now attempt to increase his chip lead even further by taking part in Day 1B and Day 1C and scooping more chips ahead of Day 2.

Also still in the mix at the close of yesterday’s session was: Jonathan Duhamel (41,850), Barry Greenstein (41,050) and Phil Hellmuth (20,650).
