The World Poker Tour has announced details of a partnership agreement with payment processor Skrill.

The digital wallet will act as the WPT's official payment processor and as part of the deal will host a series of last-longer competitions at Main Tour events, offer special tournaments on ClubWPT.com like the Skrill $2,000 High Roller and also stage parties at select WPT events.

“Skrill is proud to partner with the WPT, the premier name in poker, as part of its monumental breakthrough into the U.S. gaming scene,” said Skrill USA CEO Neil Steinhardt. “Drawing on our experience in the European market, Skrill hopes to increase awareness of our digital wallet among the players, providing them with safe, easy, and secure options to cash in and out of games. Our deep understanding of the online gaming space from our work to date will help facilitate growth for the gaming industry and improve the online experience for consumers around the world.”

WPT President Adam Pliska added, “With years of experience, key functions like player-to-player transfers, and a strong dedication to the growth of poker in the United States and abroad, Skrill is a great fit with the World Poker Tour. CEO Neil Steinhardt and his team are focused on providing safe and efficient online money transfers for poker players on the digital felt, and on the actual felt at WPT events, our players are sure to enjoy the last-longers and parties facilitated by Skrill.”

The first Skrill-backed event will be at the upcoming WPT Borgata Open.
