A total of 218 players gathered at the Casinò Municipale di Venezia yesterday for the opening flight of the latest World Poker Tour event.

By the close of play just 101 were left standing with Alessio Isaia heading the leader board with 212,300 chips. Joining the Italian at the head of the chip counts were Radoslav Dimitrov Malinov and Salvatore Arena.

One player who won't be adding to an already successful tournament CV is Kent Lundmark. The former EPT Barcelona winner was one of the high profile names to bust out on the opening flight. Joining the Swede on the rail were Fabrice Soulier, David Sonelin and Claudio Rinaldi.

More big names are expected for Day 1B which starts this afternoon. They will be joining Italian football legend Francesco Totti who took part in a number of heads up matches against PartyPoker's pro team yesterday.
