Season IX of the World Poker Tour may have only ended last week but we don't have to wait long for the new term to begin.

The new season kicks of at 2pm today UK time with the first of two opening day flights for the €3,200+€300 WPT Spanish Championship in Barcelona. The four-day event will draw to a close on Sunday with the winner set to walk away with in excess of €250,000.

Railbirds will be able to follow all the action via a special live stream from the PartyPoker Blog which will include hole cards and commentary.

The controversial figure of Ali Tekintamgac took the honours at last year's WPT Barcelona, outlasting a 326-runner field to walk away with a first prize of €287,000.
