WPT Marrakech Day 1b concludes; 82 return for Day 2

Monday, 29 November 2010

Before the World Poker Tour Five Diamond Classic at the Bellagio begins in December there is another World Poker Tour event to be shoehorned in; the WPT Marrakech sponsored by Chilipoker played out two opening flights whereupon their 222-strong field was reduced to 82 for Day 2.

Day 2 begins today with Johan Williamson and Erik Tamm holding the chip leads from the Day 1b crowd - they bagged up 192,500 and 178,900 respectively but still cannot touch the monster Day 1a stacks of Nicolas Levi and Sebastian Homann, who have 287,700 and 327,900 apiece.

Day 1b had some star promise with French poker legends David Benyamine and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier in the field but unfortunately it was not so much 'viva la France' as 'viva le farce' for both players who busted before the end of play. Chilipoker pro Liz Lieu also made an appearance though again unfortunately for her, it was very brief.

The first prize for the WPT Marrakech event is a tasty €254,745 with each player at the final table guaranteed a payout of €20,754 for their efforts. In total 27 players will leave the tournament with a
profit.
