Volpe’s WPT hot streak

Volpe’s WPT hot streak

Friday, 8 March 2013

After three gruelling days of action the WPT’s record-breaking Bay 101 event has finally reached a final table. Of the 643 entrants who started the event just six now remain in the hunt for the $1,138,350 top prize.

Of the remaining pack the most notable is undoubtedly Paul Volpe. Having scooped over $600,000 just last week at the WPT L.A. Poker Classic, the American pro made it back-to-back final tables after a dominant third session.

Despite having one of the best tournament players in the world, Erik Seidel, on his table, Volpe put in a strong performance to end the day with a stack of 5,525,000 and the chip lead. However, while Volpe will be looking to go one place better than last time out, Seidel will be hot on his heels.

Bagging 3,435,000 at the end of the day, the Shooting Star will be looking to protect the $2,500 bounty on his head for one more day and add another $1 million+ score to his glittering résumé. Indeed, after eliminating Steve Behm in 7th place to set the final table he certainly has the momentum behind him.

Final Table Starting Chip Counts:

Paul Volpe 5,525,000
Erik Seidel 3,435,000
Joe Kuether 2,830,000
Chris Johnson 2,740,000
WeiKai Chang 2,590,000
Joe Nguyen 2,175,000
