Vladimir Mefodichev wins European Masters of Poker season two opener

The second season of the European Master of Poker Tour opened in Slovenia over the weekend with Vladimir Mefodichev claiming the title. The Russian outlasted a field of 253-runners to claim the first prize of €58,190.

As befits a tour called the European Masters the final table was an international affair with players from eight European countries represented. Mefodichev faced Romania’s Mihai Sorin Nedelcu in a blink and you'll miss it heads up contest, that saw just four flops. The chips went in with Nedelcu holding pocket eights and Mefodichev king jack. A king on the flop gave the Russian the win.

The tour now heads to Casino Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, Spain – from 28th to 30th January 2010 before stops in Portugal, Italy, Bulgaria, Spain and Malta.
