Viktor “Isildur1” Blom drops $150k to Brian Hastings

Friday, 4 February 2011

Viktor “Isildur1” Blom had a hell of a weekend, losing $110,000 before Friday and then being more than $500,000 to the good just four days later. Not that he isn’t used to massive swings in his bankroll. In the past 48 hours he has met his old nemesis, Brian “$tinger88” Hastings.

On Full Tilt, Hastings was the centre of some controversy when he beat Blom out of $4.2m in a single session of six-tabling $300/$600 and $500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha; a loss of over forty buy-ins. It was later revealed that Hastings had collaborated with Cole South and Brian Townsend, datamining Isildur1’s hands and gaining an advantage disallowed by Full Tilt Poker’s terms of service. Townsend was stripped of his red pro status for the offence.

Hastings and Blom have met since and their last match, despite not approaching the giddying heights of their infamous encounter on Full Tilt, was still a huge one. Six tables of $25/$50 PLO were fired up and Blom lost $150,000 to Hastings – a loss almost equal, in terms of buy-ins or big blinds, to his $4.2m session.
