Venue change for EPT Berlin

Venue change for EPT Berlin

Friday, 18 February 2011

EPT Berlin hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons last year after armed bandits robbed the casino while the Main Event was in progress.

Organisers haven't been put off visiting the German capital this year but they will be hosting the event at a new venue, the Spielbank Berlin Casino, rather than the scene of last year's raid, the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

A statement from PokerStars read, “The new environment should be more convenient for poker players, with the 40 tournament tables and 20 cash tables all located in the same area.” Presumably security will be beefed up for what is expected to be the biggest poker tournament in German history.

The €5,300 Main Event takes place from 5-10 April 2011 with a host of top pros plus the likes of Boris Becker expected to play.

Kevin Macphee won last year's robbery interrupted event taking home a first prize of €1m.
