Vanessa Rousso wins EPT High Roller event

Tuesday, 5 May 2009

Vanessa Rousso continued her blistering run of recent form by capturing the €25K buy-in High Roller event at the EPT Final in Monte Carlo.

The 79 runner field was a who’s who of high stakes tournament players and included Phil Ivey, Barry Greenstein, Chris Ferguson, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grsopellier, Erik Seidel, Danield Negreanu and recent WPT Champion Yevgeniy Timoshenko. None could match Rousso though as she continued her excellent run.

Rousso, runner up in the 2009 NBC Heads Up Championship beat a final table which included Tony G and British phenomenon Andrew Feldman to claim the first prize of €720,000.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:
1: Vanessa Rousso €720,000
2: Randy Dorfman €434,000
3: Tony G €257,000
4: Florian Langmann €188,000
5: David Eldar €138,000
6: William Thorson €99,000
7: Andrew Feldman €79,000
8: David Steicke €60,000

Spare a thought too for Dave Ulliott who busted out in 18th place. Facing an initial raise from Bertrand Grospellier the Devilfish pushed all in with his AK. ElkY called revealing AJ. The flop brought a rainbow K67 giving Ulliott top pair and a very healthy lead. Yes, you’ve guessed it, runner runner Jacks gave ElkY trips to send a less than happy Devilfish home. Ouch.
