The burgeoning small stakes poker tournament scene is soon set to get even more crowded following news that Unibet intends to launch its own UK tour in 2016.
Being christened the Unibet UK Poker Tour, the five-leg series is scheduled to start in February at the Rendezvous Brighton Casino in East Sussex with further stops planned throughout the year in Nottingham, Glasgow and Manchester.The £220 ($328) buy-in events will each offer guaranteed £40,000 ($59,622) prize pools with players having the pick of two opening flights with starting stacks of 25,000 chips and 40-minute clocks.“The UK poker scene is very close to our hearts," said David Pomroy from Unibet.“We're hoping to transfer some of the values of our flagship Unibet Open to this tour; namely a relaxed and fun atmosphere along with some memorable poker.”Unibet revealed that online poker players will be able to win prize packages into each one of the events worth approximately £362 ($541) for as little as £0.73 ($1.08) via a series of feeder satellite competitions.
