The summer hasn’t quite finished for the 548 players who entered this year’s UltimateBet Aruba Poker Classic. The tournament attracted a plethora of players, including Mike Matusow, Robert Williamson III, Kristy Gazes, Joe Sebok, Annie Duke, as well as WSOPE Main Event winner Annette Obrestad. Yet despite all of the sun, sea and surf that can be found on the glorious Caribbean island, there is some serious money at stake, with a top prize of $797,355.
Day Three saw the bubble burst, and this year it is Brian Wessinger who will be kicking himself. Wessinger certainly can’t have been unhappy when all of his chips made the centre of the table holding pocket Kings against his opponent’s Ah-Qh. The flop of Qd-Ad-5d quickly turned the tide, and the turn and river blanked off sending Wessinger home with just a better tan.
We’re now left with 54 players who will have to play down to a final table of six. Chip leaders include Jonathan Little with 300,200, followed closely by Travis Klein with 297,700. Cards will be in the air at 12 noon local time, when those players will be fighting over the prize pool which is in excess of $2.5m.
