Leading online poker site UltimateBet.com has announced that 343 players will share in its first Bad Beat Jackpot of over $112,000.
The $112,885.50 jackpot was triggered on Wednesday evening after ‘PeterGunzzz’ lost with four jacks to a straight flush from ‘shaggy82’ in a hand of Texas Hold ‘Em. The losing hand earned $36,678.03 while the winning hand left the table $18,339.01 richer.
In addition, four players seated at the table where the Bad Beat occurred each earned $1,000 while 337 other online poker players who were seated at the 25 to 50 cent Bad Beat Jackpot tables shared in over $18,000.
UltimateBet.com said that Bad Beat Jackpot is just like traditional Texas Hold ’Em poker with an added jackpot component. In addition to rake, 50 cents is collected from qualifying hands and placed into a constantly growing pot until someone hits the jackpot.
The site said that its Bad Beat Jackpot poker tables are categorised in red text in the game lobby and all players seated at a table featuring the same limit and game type as where the Bad Beat occurred will walk away from their table with cash.
In addition, when a poker player loses a hand with four eights or anything better, 65 per cent of the jackpot is divided among Bad Beat Jackpot poker players with the rest remaining in the pot for the next jackpot and ten per cent dedicated towards administrative fees. But unlike similar offerings at other online poker sites, UltimateBet.com said, Texas Hold’em poker players don’t have to be sitting at the table where the Bad Beat occurred to share in the prize money.
