It seems that continued efforts by leaders in Washington to ban online gaming and poker are making, what some might term, “worrying progress”. After years of wrangling and failed attempts by legislators to stop people spending their cash on gambling, a bill known as HR 4411, put forward by Iowa Representative Jim Leach, is aiming to prevent once and for all offshore sites taking money from the United States – be it through cash, electronic payment or wire transfers.
What really grabs our attention is that the new proposals exclude betting on horseracing and fantasy sports games; smacking somewhat of a personal crusade against online gaming in general and poker in particular. The bill is facing opposition from Massachusetts Rep Barney Frank as well as the Poker Players Alliance.
Although, this certainly won’t be the last you’ve heard of this bill, in the meantime, it’s probably best to get online and have a quick game of poker to calm your nerves.
