Kings the downfall of poker Queen

Kings the downfall of poker Queen

Friday, 20 August 2010

Vicky Coren has been knocked out of the Edinburgh tournament as her pocket Kings run into Aces.

Sometimes hands just play themselves and this was certainly the case here. After an initial limper Vicky raised to 600 , three times the blind , the big blind re-raised to 2,100 and Vicky pushed her remaining 7,000 chips in. With no king and no flush on the board Vicky went elegantly out. In a nice but Barry Goldstein-esque touch she gave her opponent a signed copy of her book. Coincidentally fellow female poker player , EPT presenter Michelle Orpe , went out with KK as she refused to believe her opponent held an Ace on a AA6J board. He not only held the ace but the jack as well.
