JP Kelly in cruise control

JP Kelly in cruise control

Friday, 20 August 2010

As the tournament reaches the dinner break Kelly sits just above the average stack but sees no reason to concern himself just yet.

Kelly exudes charm and patience on the table and his exterior appears to reflect his interior. He has been on the recieving end of a couple of coolers , "everyone has a hand when I have one" , and had his stack halved at one stage. Yet he has admirably ,and almost seemingly effortlessly , recovered his chips. Kelly now hopes his experience and playing power will come to the fore. He explains that he usually does well at this juncture. Kelly believes that some players put too much pressure on themselves , and their starting hands , to gain chips before the second day. "Players tend to become too impatient at this stage" he claims "and this is normally when I can benefit from their mistakes". While confident in his ability he remains complimentary about the standard of the tour however and stated that he saw little difference between this and an EPT.
