Channing out as tournament comes to boiling point

Saturday, 21 August 2010

The blinds are now at 2,000/4,000 with a running ante of 400. Pressure is beginning to be put on stacks , with the average stack sitting at 135,000.

Neil Channing left the tournament as he has been all day; in a particularly good mood. " I dont know what I am in such a good mood " he said. Perhaps it was the several comedy shows he watched last night. Neil pushed all in with 17 big blinds with J10 only to discover the small blind had limped with A5 suited. "It was a bit weird" explained Channing "he is susposed to push there but its too weak to slowplay". Channing hit a J on the flop and a 10 on the turn but his opponent hit his nut flush by the river.

Joe Whittaker has now taken the chip lead with 420,000 chips. There have been some big pots been played just recently and chip counts have become very fluid. A clearer picture should be available at the dinner break in 15 minutes. Notable players remaining include previous chipleader Owen Robinson , Keith 'The Camel' Hawkins and Jake Cody.
