The opening events of the latest PokerStars UKIPT event get under way today in Edinburgh ahead of Day 1A of the £1,000+£100 event tomorrow.
Sitting as the tour's first festival of 2014, UKIPT Edinburgh is expected to welcome a number of domestic and European pros as the Main Event gets into its stride later this week. Indeed, with seating for 800 players inside The Assembly Rooms, the organisers are hoping to continue the precedent set by the Genting Poker Series Nottingham last week and break the event's £500,000 guarantee. Also on the menu for those taking a trip to the Scottish capital will be a host of cash games and side events, including the Edinburgh Cup (£300+£0 single re-entry) and an eight-handed £2,000+£200 High Roller. Last season saw 612 players take part in a slighter cheaper UKIPT Edinburgh (£770) and that time around the winner's trophy and £101,000 top prize went to Brazil Nicolau Villa-Lobos.Highlights of the UKIPT Edinburgh Schedule:January 16 - Thursday 12:00 UKIPT Main Event - Day 1A £1000 + £100January 17 - Friday 12:00 UKIPT Main Event - Day 1B £1000 + £100January 18 - Saturday 12:00 8 NL - Hold’em High Roller - "8 Handed" - Single Re-Entry £2000 + £20018:00 9 NL - Edinburgh Cup - Single Re-Entry
