UKIPT London Starts

Wednesday, 2 October 2013

Poker players in the capital can look forward to 11 days of great tournament action as the PokerStars UKIPT/EPT London festival gets under way at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden this lunchtime.

Like the recent EPT Barcelona festival, the national tour will precede the EPT action, with the first flight of the £1,100 UKIPT Main Event starting at noon today.

The £5,250 EPT London Main Event action follows on Sunday with many of the world's top players expected to take to the tables. They'll be looking to follow in the footsteps ofRuben Visser who was victorious on the EPT's last visit to the capital in March. The Dutchman boosted his bankroll by £595,000 after outlasting a field of 647 runners. Visser wasn't the only big winner last time out. Britain's Talal Shakerchi walked away with £436,330 after winning the High Roller event. All told, the series awarded over £5 million in prize money.

The full series schedule is available at ukipt.com/tournaments/london/

The EPT action gets under way at noon of Friday in the form of the £48,500+£1,500 Super High Roller event which offers unlimited re-entries.

PokerStars has released an infographic charting the spectacular rise of these mega buy-in tournaments. The figures are truly eye popping. Take a look below.
