UK player in line for consecutive Venetian honours

Tuesday, 17 November 2009

The Venetian casino in Las Vegas is currently hosting a Deepstack Extravaganza festival that last year saw UK pro Kevin O’Leary take down the Player of the Year award. He’s poised to do the same this year – after several deep finishes in this run of the festival he has taken down a $340 event for almost $27,000 for his fifth title.

Five Venetian Deepstack titles is a record in itself for the live poker festival, but the Brit is on course to break another record by winning the Player of the Year award for two consecutive festivals.

In 2008, O’Leary also found himself at the top of the pile in the Mega Stack series at Caesar’s Palace, earning almost $300,000 for the honour. Given that most of his $804,000 in tournament winnings comes from live deepstack events, it’s safe to say that the man knows a fair bit about playing with lots of chips in Las Vegas.
