UK and Ireland jam-packed with poker this weekend

Friday, 10 September 2010

We all know that our fine country is playing hostess to some of the hottest poker action around this month, but the weekend is a truly remarkable one as four major tournaments take place concurrently in the UK and across the water in Ireland.

As you may have gathered from the live reporting section of our homepage, the PokerStars UKIPT has stopped in Dublin for a tasty €560 main event guaranteeing a prize pool of €250,000 as well as a €1,100 heads-up event and a charity tournament.

Today, the welcome party for the English Poker Open goes down in Mayfair’s Palm Beach casino, fresh from hosting the inaugural World Poker Tour London event. Tomorrow the £3,750 Main Event will begin, with Day 1a and Day 1b scheduled for the weekend.

There’s also the latest leg of the £500 Coral Masters Poker Tour in Stockton on Tees and as if that wasn’t enough the Sky Poker Tour is on in Nottingham, guaranteeing £25,000 for the £220 buy-in tournament playing across Saturday and Sunday.
