UK Student Poker Championship final filling up fast

Thursday, 24 February 2011

Students will be taking a break from drinking and protesting about tuition fees this April as the UK Student Poker Championship Grand Final heads to Birmingham.

The £30+£3 event takes place at the Broadway Casino in Birmingham from Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 April with Betfred giving players an extra incentive to take the title. The tournament sponsor has boosted the prize pool with a World Series of Poker Main Event package worth $12,500.

Exeter University student Matt Harris put last year's Betfred WSOP package to excellent use, eventually finishing in 57th place for a $138,285 score.

Capacity for this year's tournament has been expanded to 420 but organisers have revealed that it's already well on the way to selling out. Students wishing to find out more information register should visit UKstudentpoker.com.
