Blue Square Poker has signed up two rising stars in poker – Praz Bansi and Karl Mahrenholz. The Blue Square team has some impressive pros on its books already; Mickey Wernick and JP Kelly to name two. Duties for these two new team members will include playing in major tournaments, and contributing to the Blue Square and GUKPT websites.
Praz Bansi earned himself a World Series of Poker bracelet last year in the $1,000 no limit event, and decided to turn pro – leaving his career as a recruitment consultant. Things went well until the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) event in Manchester, where he wasn’t happy with how he did. In an attempt to cheer him up, someone suggested he get straight over to the Bellagio. The coin-toss decider didn’t go his way, so he flipped it again. Bansi went straight to Vegas, and ended up in 50th place at the WPT championship, winning $61,880. Bansi also came first in the GUKPT event in Bolton.
Bansi’s good friend Karl Mahrenholz has also only recently turned pro, leaving his job as a Deutsche Bank analyst behind. He finished second in the GUKPT Bolton tournament and again at the GUKPT Walsall game.
