Tuna eats the fish at Fox Poker Club

Monday, 10 September 2012

It's not often that a fish wins a big tournament but that was the case at the Fox Poker Club this weekend. Gabriel Tuna was the fishy sounding player in question and we are of course not referring to his poker playing abilities.

Tuna outlasted a field of 68-runners that included the likes of Joe Beevers and Genting Poker Series winner Maksims Uskovs to walk away with a first prize of £10,330.

The champ needed to overcome a three to one chip deficit against Marc Daubach to seal the title though. Tuna was twice in danger of elimination but came from behind on both occasions to survive. He seized control when winning a flush versus flush clash before eventually sealing the win with pocket aces.

1st Gabriel Tuna £10,330
2nd Marc Daubach £5,985
3rd Rupom Pal £3,810
4th Paul Romain £2,720
5th Diana Mayo £1,905
6th Elzbieta Biessek-Piechota £1,360
7th Kevin Wheeler £1,090

It's a busy week at the Fox with qualifiers for the English Poker Open running in addition to all the usual great tournament and cash action. For full details visit foxpokerclub.com.
