Trigg Dominates UKIPT London

Thursday, 3 October 2013

Day 1A of the PokerStars UKIPT London got under way yesterday and when the registration desks had closed a total of 246 players had anted up the necessary £1,100 to play the tournament. Amongst the droves of online qualifiers swimming around EPT London's new home in the Grand Connaught Rooms were some of Europe's top grinders, including Richard Trigg.

Flanked by the likes of Jake Cody, Vicky Coren and Mickey Petersen, Trigg was able to soar to the top of the daily chip counts after scoring a number of eliminations throughout the day.

Indeed, it was during the last level of the day that he really made his mark on the tournament, eliminating Chris O'Donnell and nabbing the chip lead in the process.

The hand started with Trigg 3-betting with Kh 6h from the button and O'Donnell calling with Tc 9s. After watching the flop roll out Qh Jh Kd a bet from Trigg was called by O'Donnell allowing the 4s to fall on the turn.

After checking to the river a final heart caused a flurry of betting activity and when O'Donnell finally committed the last of his chips he was faced with the bad news that Trigg had an unbeatable flush.
With that O'Donnell was sent to the rail and Trigg was able to rake in bumper pot and close out the day with 226,100 chips.

Day 1B is expected to attract even more pros as the UKIPT continues to enjoy its best season yet.

Day 1A Top Five Chip Counts:
1 Richard Trigg 226,100
2 Jack Salter 181,500
3 Tom Langley 166,000
4 Kenny Hallaert 150,300
5 Henrique Pinho 134,700
