The latest Genting Poker Series Main Event winner has been crowned with Danny Tran taking the honours in this weekend's latest leg in Southend-on-Sea.
A total of 431 entries created a guarantee busting prize pool of £171,000 with Tran taking home almost £31,000 of it after agreeing a chop when play was four-handed. With each of the final quartet guaranteed at least £20,000 the final table action continued at a rapid-fire pace with Will Messenger departing in fourth. The long-time leader lost a chunk of change when his pocket 8s ran into Tran's pocket queens with the rest following soon after when Tran turned a full house to beat his flopped straight. Dan Kneafsey was next to go in third, taking a stand with A5 but unlucky enough to run into Josh Venman's AQ. The board helped neither player and send Kneafsey to the rail with £23,000 for his efforts. Tran had a healthy two to one chip lead at the start of heads up play and it didn't take him long to claim the title, sealing victory when his pocket 5s held against Venman's K8. The final table positions and payouts were as follows: 1st - £30,765** - Danny Tran2nd - £24,000** - Josh Venman3rd - £23,000** - Dan Kneafsey4th - £24,000** - Will Messenger5th - £10,345 - Don Roberts6th - £7,930 - Sarbjit Kular7th - £6,205 - Nadeem Ali8th - £4,655 - Kris Hussain9th - £3,450 - Harish Sahnan The Genting Poker Series returns in just four weeks with the Genting Club in Stoke the venue for another £400+£40 Main Event.
